Nagelsmann keen to bring in new goalkeeper due to Neuer’s injury

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has claimed that the club may need a new goalkeeper following the injury to Manuel Neuer. The German captain has been ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up an injury in a skiing accident. He took part in the German team that featured at the World Cup and went out in the first round of the competition. As a result, Bayern Munich are in a precarious position with regards to the rest of the season when they will be playing in the finale of key competitions.

The German outfit were recently in Doha for taking part in the training camp. The Bundesliga campaign starts next week and Bayern Munich remain as big favourites to retain the league title. However, the injury to Manuel Neuer has provided a big setback for Bayern, who have a four-point advantage over Freiburg from the first half of the campaign. Even though the likes of RB Leipzig and Freiburg have provided a valuable competition to Bayern in the first half of the campaign, they are likely to get a huge boost in psychological terms with Bayern missing their captain and key figure.

Julian Nagelsmann has hinted that Bayern may be dipping into the market and bringing in a new goalkeeper, which may or may not be on a temporary basis. "Our job is to look at the market, although it's difficult in the winter (transfer window) to find goalkeepers as there are not that many options on the market that make sense for us.It is a complex market, the one for goalkeepers. We are trying to do something. Ulreich has done it well in training here, but we are obliged to bring in another keeper, irrespective of who is number one and two," said the Bayern coach.
