Mats Hummels gives the reason why he chose Bayern Munich

Mats Hummels has completed his move to Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund and will join the club on the 1st of July.

He has admitted that there were other clubs that were interested in signing him and that he has chosen to play for Bayern Munich. He has revealed that one of those clubs was Manchester United.

He said that the fact that Manchester United will not be playing in the Champions League next season had impacted his decision. He stated that he would have been interested to play in the Premier League, but the only club that was interested in him could not offer him Champions League football. For this reason, he has agreed to stay in the Bundesliga and move to Bayern Munich.

Manchester United have tried to sign Mats Hummels during his time at Borussia Dortmund, but they could not reach a deal with the German club. It is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign the defender together with Shinji Kagawa, but the deal could not go through.

And when the player was finally available it is the inability to offer Champions League final that will prove the deterrent for the deal.

Bayern Munich are also looking to strengthen ahead of the new season. There are rumors that they might make a move for Marco Verratti. The latter who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain is reported to be a target for Bayern Munich. Indeed, the new manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking to build a new team that will allow him not only to dominate the German Bundesliga but also win the Champions League. He will feel that the Italian, who has managed 19 assists since joining Paris Saint-Germain will be a formidable addition to his team.
