GORETZKA DOUBTFUL FOR DER KLASSIKER

It is a big weekend in the German Bundesliga with Der Klassiker between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Borussia Dortmund are the hosts of the latest instalment as they try to overhaul Bayern Munich at the top of the table. It is undoubtedly the biggest game of the current German Bundesliga season with the two teams fighting for the league title.

Bayern Munich have won the last nine German Bundesliga titles and Dortmund are realistically the only team that can stand between them and a tenth successive league title.

Borussia Dortmund can make a big statement in the quest to wrestle the league title from their rivals and stop them from winning a tenth straight league title with a win when they clash at the SignaIduna Park on Saturday. Borussia Dortmund will start the game in second place with 30 points and a one-point deficit to Bayern at the summit with the knowledge that a win will see them usurp the Bavarian giants at the top of the table.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann took the managerial job at the club this summer after Hansi Flick resigned to take the German national team job. Nagelsmann has been able to lead Bayern to the Bundesliga summit after thirteen (13) rounds of games and he has a big injury problem ahead of the Dortmund with Leon Goretzka. The German international is struggling with a hip problem and he might miss Der Klassiker as a result. German newspaper Kicker said that the former Schalke 04 has not been training properly and that he might miss the game.

While the participation of Goretzka is in doubt, his midfield partner Joshua Kimmich will miss the game completely as he's in quarantine due to COVID.Nagelsmann might draft CorentinTolisso and Marc Roca into his midfield for the Dortmund game in the absence of Kimmich and potential absence of Goretzka.
