Best Wingers ever to play Bayern Munich

With the news that Franck Ribery’s move away from the club was sealed, and with Robben announcing that Munich could be the last club he plays for, we’ve been inspired to look back over the years and assess 5 of the best wide men ever to play for famous Bavarians.

In no particular order:

Franck Ribery
The enigmatic French-man wasn’t without his critics during his decade-plus stay at the Allianz but on his day, and during his peak years in red, he was one of the best players in the world and integral to a Bayern team that have won multiple League titles over the last decade, as well as a plethora of domestic trophies and of course the Champions League in 2013.

Quick, good with both feet, Ribery was a nightmare to handle if you were an opposition full-back. He scored 156 goals in over 600 appearances in all competitions and given his longevity, talent and service he is well deserving of a place on this list.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Okay so maybe he wasn’t an out-and-out winger, but Rummenigge was a versatile forward an no doubt one of the best players to ever turn out for Bayern Munich before he moved to Inter Milan at the end of the 1983084 season.

Skill, vision and leadership defined the forward, who could play in a number of positions across the front free and in total, the German netted 217 times in 422 appearances, an exceptional strike rate.

His goals and presence helped Bayern win two European Cups during his spell at the club and he will forever retain legendary status at the club.

Arjen Robben
It wouldn’t be entirely fair to exclude Robben from the list, particularly given that he struck up a formidable partnership with Ribery that terrified defences in Germany and Europe for many years.

Robben is renowned for boasting a stunning left foot and making clever runs; his all-round intelligence marked him out as a special talent.

Like Ribery he was part of a successful Bayern side that has recently dominated on the domestic front and he scored some brilliant strikes in his time.

There’s rumours that the Dutchman is considering a move away from Germany, but whatever happens in the near future his exploits will not be forgotten.

One for the future…
As we’ve seen, Bayern have had some exceptionally talented wide-man throughout the course of their illustrious career and one man touted as the next big thing is French winger Kingsley Coman.

Coman is the type of player that will make fans leap from their seats. He has electrifying pace, an eye for goal and if he can play a consistently high level then it’s worth exploring trusted free betting picks and taking advantage of bookmaker offers like Bayern to win the Champions League.

If he can stay injury free, Coman has every change of becoming another legendary Bayern Munich winger but only time will tell.
