German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich secured top spot on the league standings in grand style after they thrashed VFL Bochum 7-0 at home. The big win over the newly promoted club ensured that Bayern Munich leapfrogged VFL Wolfsburg to seal their place at the summit.

Bayern Munich took the lead in their German Bundesliga clash with VFL Bochum on 17 minutes thanks to the goal from Ex-Manchester City winger Leroy Sane. The strike from Sane opened the floodgate of goals for the Bavarian giants.

German international Joshua Kimmich scored the first of his two goals ten minutes after the opener from compatriot Sane. Serge Gnabry was the recipient of the third Bayern Munich goal on 32 minutes before Vasilis Lambropoulosput through his own net for the fourth goal in for the hosts. To this effect, Bayern Munich established a four-goal lead at the half-time interval.
Polish international Robert Lewandowski is the star player at Bayern Munich but he was surprisingly amongst the goals in the first half of the Bundesliga clash with Bochum. Lewandowski finally scored with the first goal of the second half. Bayern scored a fifth goal thanks to Polish national team talisman Lewandowski just after the hour mark. Lewandowski was able to maintain his record of scoring in every league game. His goal against Bochum took his tally to seven in five matches.
German utility player Kimmichcompleted his brace four minutes after the goal from Polish international Lewandowski as Bayern Munich established a 6-0 lead over their guests. Bayern wrapped up the scoring thanks to second halfsubstitute Eric Choupo-Motingwith eleven minutes left to play. Choupo-Moting had come on for Lewandowski eleven minutes before he joined the scoring party.
Former leaders Wolfsburg lost their place to Bayern at the Bundesliga summit after the 1-1 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. After five league games, Bayern have 13 points just like Wolfsburg but they are first on the table with a superior goal difference.
