Best Wingers ever to play Bayern Munich

With the news that Franck Ribery’s move away from the club was sealed, and with Robben announcing that Munich could be the last club he plays for, we’ve been inspired to look back over the years and assess 5 of the best wide men ever to play for famous Bavarians.

In no particular order:

Bayern Munich sack Carlo Ancelotti

Bayern Munich have reportedly parted ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti following Wednesday night's 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Italian head coach replaced Pep Guardiola at the helm last season and guided them to the Bundesliga title in his first season in-charge.

However, the new campaign brought question marks over his future after a poor pre-season where they struggled to beat the likes of Inter Milan, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. Bayern are currently three points adrift of leaders Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and the 3-0 thumping at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain was the last straw for the former Champions League winner.

Rummenigge not happy with Louis Van Gaal

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the president of Bayern Munich, does not think that Louis Van Gaal is as good a coach as Pep Guardiola.

Van Gaal had been in charge of Bayern Munich for a couple of seasons and If Rummenigge is to be believed, he was kind of bullish in that period.

Van Gaal, however, had a lot of results to show in his very first season in charge. Not only did he guide the Bavarians to the Premiership title, but, also, to the Cup glory.

He could have completed the treble if not for that loss against Internazionale in European Cup final.

RUMENIGGE DEFENDS PLAYERS

The Bayern Munich chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has come out in the defence of the players after they were criticised by the Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer after having finished runners-up in all the three major competitions in the last season.
