BAYERN EXECUTIVE KARL-HEINZ RUMMENIGGE SAYS MARIO GOTZE NOT OUT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SQUAD

German champions Bayern Munich were rumoured to have excluded Mario Gotze’s name from the club’s UEFA Champions League squad. The Chief Executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has come out to dispel such rumours. He said such reports are mere “fiction.”

Gotze who is currently in France on international duty for Germany is heavily linked with a move from the German club.

A reunion with his former manager at Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp was believed to be the best move that will see him enjoying regular football again but the talented player has shut such declaring his intention to remain at the club.

Gotze’s decision to remain at the club was quite surprising, leaving many surprised and Suddeutsche Zeitung, the German newspaper, have since suggested that if the midfielder does not leave this summer, he will be omitted from next season’s Champions League squad. The report forced an official statement on the club’s website. Rummenigge wrote:

“This is complete fiction. It remains the case that we will resolutely defend ourselves against all false or even malicious reporting using all legal means available to us.”
The executive also added that the news sources “cease and desist from such “false claims.” Gotze though very talented has a plot of players in the team competing for his space.

The insistence of Gotze is baffling as the incoming manager, Carlo Ancelotti explained to him that his playing time will not improve in the coming campaign but the 24-year old player prefers staying to fight for a shirt.

Even Rummenigge seemed surprised as he told Kicker magazine:
“I had talks with him (Götze) and Ancelotti. Mario knows the thoughts of Bayern. Everything was clearly and seriously explained to Mario. He knows what the club thinks and what the new coach thinks. Mario has to evaluate for himself whether he wants to play constantly.”

Same Bayern is concluding moves to land Napoli defender Koulibaly this summer, even with interested from Chelsea and Manchester United. There are talks regarding a new deal with the Italians but Ancelotti wants the player too.
